R-407A is a hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerant created from a blend of R-32, R-125, and R-134a. It was introduced as a replacement for older refrigerants such as R-22 and R-404A, designed for medium and low-temperature cooling systems. With its efficient cooling properties, R-407A provides strong performance while offering reduced environmental impact compared to traditional R-22.
R-407A uses synthetic lubricants like polyolester (POE) oils for compatibility and runs at pressures similar to R-404A, ensuring stable and reliable operation in commercial and industrial refrigeration applications. While its Global Warming Potential (GWP) is lower than R-404A, it is still higher than new-generation HFO refrigerants, making R-407A a useful transitional solution for systems that are not yet ready to switch to advanced low-GWP alternatives
